A few weeks ago I received an email from Debbie to make a very special cake to celebrate the upcoming birth of her very first grandchild. The theme for the shower was "monsters" but the design of the cake was totally open. I wanted to find a good balance between being uber cute (like the one I made for Mikey's first birthday) and sophisticated. When Debbie showed me the invitation she made, I was instantly inspired.

Ava's Cheerleading Birthday Party
Oh how delighted I am to share photos from Ava's 6th birthday party! Isn't it just delightful? Ava's theme was cheerleading and some cheerleaders from the local high school came to teach all the party guests some cheer fundamentals. Several of the girls dressed in the most adorable little cheerleading outfits. Pink is Ava's favorite color so everything was pink, pink and more pink! I made pink funfetti cake (pink cake with red, white and pink sprinkles), pink raspberry French macaroons and of course pink cake pops, each adorned in a various shades of pink sugar and sprinkles. I think Ava's mom did a supreme job decorating! It felt as though I was on a set of a magazine shoot.

Konrad's Biplane Birthday

I've gotten a bit behind on my blog posts. I hope you can forgive me! I was going through my photos, when I realized that I never posted this charmer. Last year on an extremely warm and sunny Seattle summer day, I had the honor of baking Konrad's first birthday cake, complete with a kitschy banner tolling biplane.

Sunshine On A Stick- Cake Pop Cake

A few months ago, on an unusually stormy and humid afternoon in June, I had a cake order due for a pool party themed birthday party. Samantha was turning ten and she was having a big party to celebrate. Unfortunately, the weather kept the sun at bay but who needs the sun when you have a cake pop cake like this?

Big Birthday Brownie

I made this asymmetrical-on-purpose brownie birthday treat to celebrate little Aliana's 5th birthday. To help me get calibrated to the way she made her hearts, Aliana drew me several hearts just to help me get inspired. Big colorful, curvy, bubbly, slanted hearts filled several pages of paper and some even had smiley faces on them! Kristina, Aliana's proud mom, told me that sometimes Aliana liked to add a little bumpy border to the outside of hearts too.

Caramel Apples

Caramel apples are one of my son's absolute favorite things that I make. I have only made them one time before and that was on a whim after a colleague asked me if I would make theme for his wife. Two years later, I decided it was time to make them again but this time I'd do it to raise money for two charities: Heifer.Org and Child's Play.

Breast Cancer 3-Day Bake Sale Cheesecake Pops
Today I donated cheesecake pops for a Breast Cancer 3-Day fundraiser bake sale. These were the same recipe that I used to make the Daring Baker's April Challenge, but I only made one-fifth of the recipe. I'm not sure how well they sold, but I think they came out pretty good.

Cheesecake Pops

When I saw that this month’s recipe was for cheesecake I was a little worried, mostly due to my lack of experience making it. However this recipe was for cupcake pops and who doesn’t love food on a stick? And as luck would have it, about a week before I heard about this mission I had offered to make cheesecake as a birthday treat for a coworker, Angela. It was official; this mission would be made just for her.
